to a graduate

today's the day
a new title gained
graduate.
a beginning
from an end
newness
if i could offer advice i would
but i can't
these days will be yours
days where the deepest parts of you will be found.
a foreign life
unlike anything before
these days will be forged by
hardness
beauty
adventure
succeeding
moments within moments that last forever and end instantly.
a time where you'll find you
a metamorphism that while its occurring is both unknown and known
kindness
fortitude
confidence
integrity
and
courage
these and many others will be where you turn.
what you'll find are the same in return
a slew of others you hoped you'd never encounter.
good will always be
it's in details and big pictures
since it's who you are you'll see it more than most.
fear has its place but doesn't belong anywhere for long.
since i've seen you triumph over and over
triumph is all i know you'll do
in times like these no real advice will do
a congratulations and a best of luck is what i'll give
and I'll say the next few will be the best few because they'll be filled with you seeing you.
