a movie night.
when mares was but a wee pup we took her to frozen
she slept through it.
that was her first movie experience.
it happened in bicknell.
in bicknell kids a mini size get to go free.
the other day we couldn’t deny ourselves a repeat movie experience.
when I got up to the ticket window I was appalled to find out any kid over 1 is charged full price…
what the hell- she’s 2.
she sits on my lap.
dude.
i thought all of this banter in my mind and forked up the full-price ticket cash.
with anger in my heart.
then we purchased the $10 popcorn bucket- - ok it was $7.50.
i’m “frugal” (and or cheap) when it comes to things of this nature.
if it hadn’t been a party night with our toddler i wouldn’t have allowed such an extravagant purchase as popcorn.
we took our seats.
note to self- do not request the seats that have no seats in front of them…
that is a situation just begging a toddler to roam around.
mares did pretty dang good.
she did do some roaming-
and about 10 seat changes, but overall for a 2 year old girl watching a non-princess or animal movie i would say she was a champion.
she preferred to sit down in the solo seat all by herself- which was sort of adorable in a heartbreaking parental distance wanting sort of way.
we gave her loads of popcorn.
we gave her loads of candy.
we gave her loads of soda.
parenting skills should be forgotten on certain special occasions.
we ate that whole massive bucket of popcorn, and then refilled it on the way out. (gotta get our money worth)
popcorn must not be as popular as it once was because a few hours later all digestive hell broke loose.
i’m going to blame it on rancid overpriced popcorn-
who knows the real cause.
all i know is that some kind of something hit me hard- and vomiting was my only out.
then crampage and an evening filled with stomach issues.
glorious reason not to purchase popcorn. ever. again.
dale got a dose of illness too- so perhaps my ploy will hold.
thus concluded our first real family movie night.
one for the books.
