cabo part 3

sunday in cabo had to be a bit more relaxed.
we didn’t venture to the beach.
what we decided to do was drive to a nearby town to get a feel for what a less-touristy town would be like.
todos santos was the location.
i got chastised for this pic.... teeny nativity in a nut shell though? it had to be snapped.
a bad selfie by a spectacular fence
another recommendation from our hotel man.
we wandered around the town, looked at some of the shops, we found mary a couple of the greatest dresses ever.
then we made a bad choice.
seemed like a good choice until a day later when digestion hell broke loose.
a chili relleno and fajita combo pack of destruction.
all i will say is we still haven’t completely recovered.
on our way back i couldn’t get over the cactus/beach combo view so i asked dale to pull over so i could take some pictures.
out in the middle of nowhere there was also this waterslide hotel that had been abandoned.
it screamed fabulous scenery.
i got out and went and took some pictures, then dale came over and we took a couple of selfies, and then i made him be the model.
this water slide in the desert beach though.... i'd buy it.
on our walk back to the car, in the middle of the desert-beach we lost our car keys…..
i instantly starting praying.
stranded on the side of the road,
in mexico,
locked out of our car,
without a phone that we can call on,
and no idea who we would call anyways….
it was clearly a recipe for potential disaster.
gratefully we found them- which I 100% attribute to the praying.
then we headed back.
we stopped at the mega store in mexico- wish I would have realized it was so close to our hotel and we would have gone there instead of my nemesis walmart.
then we made our way back to go to church.
i looked online and it said there was a meeting at 5- which seemed odd to me, but you never know if foreign countries.
when we arrived at the building we quickly realized there must have been a typo or something; no church.
seeing LDS chapels in foreign places always makes me feel a little bit like I’m home.
it was probably the one of the nicest buildings if not the nicest building we saw the whole trip.
with our failed church trip we headed back to the hotel.
we went down to the marina for one last sunset view.
it’s always crazy to me how fast vacations go- i look forward to them forever and then they come and it seems like I have a ton of time to vacation and then it’s over.
the sunset view- a tostada and some flan to finish off the night.

day 6- an ending
here’s the deal.
we had borrowed Josh’s (dale’s brother in-law) go pro to take some great pictures while we were snorkeling.
when we went to find it dale was sure he had left it plugged into the wall at home.
saturday night he found it in his suitcase-
in light of this discovery we decided to do something a little bit crazy.
the morning before we left we woke up around 6:30 and headed to the beach for a 7:00 sunrise snorkel and go pro extravaganza.
it was beautiful.
it really pays to wake up early.
no people.
the water was still perfect.
hundreds of fish.
we took almost 800 pictures.
i stayed out way to long.
i went to go take some pictures of dale and the dry heaving began.
here I was in this beautiful sunrise setting.
soaking in some snorkeling.
when the nausea got the best of me.
after about 7 gut wrenching attempts to vomit my reflex finally kicked in and the real deal happened.
remarkable how good I felt after it was over.
i had already made my way back to the beach dry heaving and trying to keep the salt water out of my mouth as i headed to shore.
by the time i made it back the deed was done and i was tempted to rejoin my morning snorkel pal.
i should have rejoined him too because he saw a sea turtle-
naturally.
another perk of early morning activity.
it was fine beach finale to our trip.
we packed up our stuff.
headed for the airport.
that’s when scandal prevailed.
we stopped to get some gas- our quick conversion ability was subpar.
the dude charged us 10 times more than he should have.
cost us more to get 3 liters than it did to fill our tank completely up the day before.
we were both flaming mad at the thief- by the time we realized what had happened the only thing we could do was dispute the charges with the credit card company.
i’ll be honest that was the icing on my i’m ok never going back to mexico cake.
i had a great time with dale.
it was more than perfect to spend some time away with him- it’s the first time in over 2 years we’ve spent a night away from mary.
the beaches were beautiful.
this hotel room was not....
i learned a lot.
but i don’t care if i ever go back to Mexico.
i don’t love authentic mexican food (taco bell or cafe rio are exceptional to me).
i hate not being able to drink the water anywhere.
i didn’t like wondering if my food was sanitary.
the haggling was relentless.
i felt like i couldn’t trust many people- i always had to double check and triple check our bills and conversions and such because they tried to get us a few times.
it’s a beautiful place and it was mostly fun, but i think it’s ok if i don’t ever go back.
we made it back with no excitement.
i couldn’t wait to see mary- it was like Christmas seeing her again.
i missed her every second of every day.
that's a wrap to our cabo experience.
hope all of you are adventuring- happiest of mondays!
