vegas 2015

one of my most favorite people ever lives in vegas.
one of my favorite families lives there- really my favorite next to my own.
any opportunity i get to go down and spend more than a day or two i take it.
besides having these grand folks to visit, we lived there for a few years.
i get to relive all my favorite spots with my favorite people.
it’s a winning situation.
the winningest of all things that happened in vegas is mary was born.
i’m not sure if the yearly introduction to her birthplace will keep being an annual tradition, but so far it has been.
this go around we took her to see the strip.
last trip she didn’t experience such a crazy place.
dale and i figured that if she can finagle new york city she can manage in vegas.
our agenda included: a trip down fremont street (which was also my first time down), a stop at the pawn stars shop, a complete drive down the entire strip, and the bellagio.
we wanted to show her the volcano show at the mirage, but naturally it was closed for construction the exact time we were there.
fremont street was extra trashy, but mary was beyond fascinated with the lights display and the zip liners.
it was sort of enchanting to see her entranced by all those beautiful lights.
my only hope is that some of the unpleasantries of Fremont street won’t be burned in her teeny memory.
the most fascinating thing i saw (apart from the ridiculous lights) was a woman, and later a man, suspended in thin air…. it was phenomenally and creepily impressive.
on our way to the Bellagio we couldn’t help but stop at the pawn stars shop.
opened 24hrs it said….. lies. The show room closed at 9 about 10 minutes before we got there.
so we snapped a pic, took a peek inside, and felt our reality t.v. shop viewing was successful. (also funny we didn’t go there while we lived there…. ridiculous really.)
the grand finale had to be the Bellagio.
mercy i love the Bellagio.
not only does it have the world’s largest chocolate fountain but a season room they dress up in the most impressive decorations.
the Chinese new year was the theme.
red lantern’s hanging beautifully all over the place.
chinese men and women made out of flowers.
then a good sized indoor mountain adorned with cute goats.
not to mention the pool with koi.
perfect décor blending.
upon exiting there’s the main entrance with that crazy beautiful ceiling.
i’m  not sure if they are flowers or just petals or crazy abstract something’s, but that ceiling is spectacular.
all those vibrant colors.
all that perfectly placed artistry.
wow.
once we got our fill of the indoor displays we headed for the main show.
who doesn’t like fountain shows set to music.
we watched 3- then it got kind of chilly and it was 10 so we decided the toddler needed to turn it in.
she was enamored by the display.
cute teeny impressive water show viewer.
creepy olaf also made an appearance- nothing more could have been asked for.
a grand finale evening for one grand trip.
beautiful weather, great lunch dates with my spectacular aunt and cousin, a couple of shopping trips, bonding at its finest, movie watching and general relaxation- it was just the kind of trip I needed.
sad to say farewell to my favorite people and some of my favorite activities.
it was lovely.
happiest of weeks everyone.
