laketown
laketown our destination.
i can’t stay away from that place during the winter for some odd reason.
i believe i’ve gone up every winter except one since my sister moved to the randolph/laketown area.
winter is quite possibly the worst time to visit.
plummeting temperatures.
bad snow packed roads.
a winter hater’s nightmare land. (aka me, the winter hater)
all the makings of a fine vacation.
besides the whole traveling portion it really does make for a surprisingly great vacation.
it’s so bleetin cold out i can’t do anything but relax and take it easy.
no other options.
then my sister and her spouse treat me to the finest of times and it makes for a right good vacation.
good choice food.
an occasionally lucky trip to bon rico’s- the finest steak joint possibly in the world.
the newest in entertainment- both movies and gaming.
this time around there was an inflatable deer for tackling or hunting practice- mary mostly just totted it around.
a cousin crowd that’s made for dreamers.
(not to mention a snuggle from the sweetest of tikes- auntie heaven.)
space galore.
a couch that destroys my every desire to do anything but lounge.
but by chance i get some self-motivation, don’t worry there’s a treadmill.
then there’s the showers at their place….. a water heater with insta hot water that never runs out.
made on demand- the latest in polar living waterworks.
want to have a hot shower for say 4 hours;
no problem.
then after my 4 hour shower the chances are high there’s a choicely seasoned cut of beef awaiting my appetite.
followed by another snuggle from a chubby baby while i tune into the latest and greatest in entertainment.
the ultimate for my motherly self is mary’s experience.
a 6 year old boy that patiently and kindly tends and plays with mary.
not to mention he allows her to steal all of his most beloved toys without anger.
picture the dream cousin and you’ve got wilkes.
mary adores him so much given the toddler confused potential choice before our trip between picking me up and possibly losing the chance to see wilkes and just leaving me to see wilkes she chose leaving me to see wilkes.
to instantly light up mares eyes all you have to say is wilkes.
the combination of all these grand things makes for an exceptional winter stay every time.
i always expect there to be about 5 feet of snow- this time, pretty much zilch.
dale was the best kid sled champion out there.
he pulled the sled down the hill while running so they wouldn’t have to have snow spray in the face (which happens when we would stop with our feet).
up and down he went with lillian and mares.
teeny rocky even joined in on the riding a couple of times.
after about an hour we were told we couldn’t sled on the hill….. interesting but we cooperated and headed home.
between the sled event, movies, a baked good extravaganza, red meat consumption at its finest, and general visiting perfection i couldn’t have asked for a finer visit.
plus spending time with nancy and maggie- that’s a winning situation all its own.
with such prospects i can’t help but go back every freezing winter.
this go around it was right balmy anywho.
there’s only one thing that needs saying.
“laketown, i’ll be seeing you again real soon.”
