the start

i have decided to start a blog to document our life in this massive metropolitan. let's be honest it's mostly an excuse for me to keep a "journal". hope some of my family and friends finds it interesting along the way. 

i decided today was a fitting start date- it is mary's first birthday and i can't sleep, but she's snoozing like a bear cub. it feels like christmas to me. i have been waiting for this grand event for a few months now; waiting and wishing it would get here but wishing it wouldn't. it's an interesting feeling this parenting- you love seeing your teeny kids grow big and strong and learn new things, but you miss that teeny tiny person you welcomed into the world. 

we will party
there will be chocolate cake from carlos bakery
she has >10 presents (unintended- her out of home family spoils her)
we will ride a carousel in central park
maybe she will wear her halloween costume all day just because

so a very very happy birthday to the greatest thing that could have ever happened to me.
