boston part 2
on the second day of our boston trip we ventured a bit farther.
i was still sick as a dog.
i contemplated not going out, but in the name of travel fun i pulled up my big girl britches and went out on the town.
the freedom trail was our destination.
dale went out earlier and did bunker hill and the sites across the bridge.
(i was sleeping....)
then we joined historical walk forces and found ourselves on the freedom trail.
ok boston is the best when it comes to seeing sites.
this city has inlaid a red brick line (sometimes a painted line) into the streets and sidewalks.
if you follow this lovely trail it will take you to pretty much every historical site in boston.
it's pure tourism genius is what it is.
few cities have such an ability- i mean how many cities have a ton of major historical sites all within walking distance still perfectly preserved among the city chaos.
boston really did itself well preserving american history.
so on this day we walked the trail.
it was american history at it's finest- here's some pics:
american history perfection
splurging
genius tourism walking
splash pad frequenting
costuming for parental bliss
death sickness still hanging on- the pictures don't show my agony, but i was still ill.
on day 1 dale went and got some bagels; on day 2 i woke up craving those bagels uncontrollably.
they have this cinnamon-sugar bagel that's like a bagel donut- it was the greatest combination of breaded items.
even with my lack of tasting ability i knew it was really something special.
i think it was good for me to have that exquisite bagel so i don't hate my life because i am leaving nyc bagels- it gave me cuisine hope.
on this day we went to this place called modern bake shop.
the line was massive so we figured it had to be great.
we got some boston creme pie and a rum baba- they were so gross... and that's saying a lot coming from someone that couldn't even taste them.
highly disappointing- glad we got a retry with the boston creme pie at union oyster house.
a million times better.
obviously i live to eat; i don't eat to live.
welcome aboard you lovely calories you. i'll give you a cushy ride.
day 2 made me proud to be an american.
i love america.
boston has the finest urban trail in all the land.
happy sunday everyone!

how the freedom trail looks
we started at boston commons and worked our way out
i think it would be best to start at bunker hill and work your way in
there's really no mistaking where you're going and what your seeing
it's pure genius i say!
mr. hancock and mr. revere needed respects to be paid
mary's favorite historical moment
she loves equines of all varieties
man i love history.
man i love boston.
glorious.
modern+history= loveliest combination in the land
mares loves historical stroller family selfies
colonial mary
quincy market is really fabulous
i could wander around there for an entire day
how mares feels about crowded interior markets
then boston went and did something fabulously crazy like this....
metal smashed trash in the road.
weird and great.
teeny mary needed a splash pad break
and there couldn't have been a finer background
then there was paul revere
mary loves selfies with paul revere (she has fine taste in men)
thank you boston for being the easiest tourist city to navigate. period.
we splurged a bit to dine at this lovely establishment
it's one of the oldest restaurant establishments in america
(it self-declares it is the oldest- but wiki didn't really agree.... who's right? seems like i have accurate sources.....)
this is what we had- we split
we also had ourselves some boston clam chowder
and boston baked beans
because when we go to boston we must try every boston named food item
also crustaceans and shelled animals are a must have delicacy in new england
mares loves dining experiences
then naturally we had boston creme pie for dessert.
excellent.
(well actually i couldn't taste pretty much anything so i have no idea- but the texture was delicious.)
this lasted a whole 4 seconds
then we bribed her into wearing ridiculously great crustacean hats
it was one of my finest parenting moments.
