the guggenheim
this city has things for the poor and rich alike.
granted if you're the poor crowd usually things are crowded because they are free....
but free, is free, is free, and i'll take it.
certain museums have certain "pay what you wish" (aka free) days or times.
i refuse to spend $25 to spend at max a couple hours in a museum when i live here.
pay what you wish has become the only time we do certain activities.
once i paid to the see the central park zoo- it's the worst zoo ever.
because of my central park zoo experience i now take full advantage of poor folk activities.
(let's be honest i would have felt terribly robbed had i paid to go to the nyc aquarium....)
when i noticed that the guggenheim was free from 5:45-7:45 on saturdays- that was our only time to go.
when we arrived the line was crazy-
like 1 block between avenues long, and those are long- real long.
i was feeling a bit anti museum when i saw the never ending line, but we joined it anyways.
i need to always remember that lines in nyc are a lot different than lines anywhere else.
from the time i entered the back of the line to when we got to the front it was about 5 minutes.
here's a few pics from our guggenheim experience
an extra quick museum visit due to a toddlers impatience.
i didn't feel to bad about not being able to spend a lot of time in there because, as i mentioned previously, i didn't recognize anything i saw.
the design itself is worth it.
thank you frank lloyd wright.
plus it's nice to go so you can say you went to the museum in this and that movie.
tonight we are going to shakespeare in the park.
a report on that later.
happy mid week folks!

a guggenheim museum toddler
the only place we were supposed to take pictures was on the first floor
right inside the entrance...
ya i looked for every opportunity to break that rule.
mares entered modern art musician heaven
then at the top
right by the no picture sign
and in between chastisement from security to not take pics
i took this pic
then this one.
i didn't walk up 6ish floors of winding art to not get a pic crazies.
mares got a little too comfortable with the edge
my mama heart was beating a million miles every time she tried to lean real far over....
i'm not hip into the modern art scene
pretty much if it isn't a very, very popular and usually an old painter/artist i have no clue
but i want to be cultured- so i go to the guggenheim;
even if i recognize nothing- just because it's the guggenheim and it's world renowned.
it was an all around good experiencean extra quick museum visit due to a toddlers impatience.
