gma, the rain, and paramore

had a wee blast from my past this a.m.
this morning i got a wild hair inspired by 2 teenage sisters.
we woke up at 6 (which is madness for me).
ran over to central park.
watched a concert.
paramore it was.
rain hard it did.
it was free.
broadcasted live on gma.
it brought back a million and one memories.
here are a few pictures of such an occasion (and a few hashed out memories too.)
when a city disappears
be leery of the weather...
 (how it usually looks...)
that didn't stop us though- free concerts are a must be attended event.
we ran over.
when we got to the gate some woman yelled
"no running inside"
ummm ya- really?
we're here to do precisely the opposite.
 the set.
we got to see the same show twice-
they practiced once and then did the real deal when the cameras were ready.
pretty sure we stood in the only spot that you would never see us on t.v.
blasted, there goes my debut.
(my sisters are going to be hatin on me for this pic....)
 paramore, balloons, and rain= glorious.
some folks camped out for the concert....
sorry fans- could have come at 8 and still had a stellar seat.
at the end it started down pouring.
the last big time concert i went to was coldplay. (ohhhh don't get me started on coldplay- i love, love, love them. the whole concert was art. it was like a dream.)
back in my music days of glory i was a concert crazy kid.
every year there's this thing called warped tour- it was my must attend summer event.
there was nothing more exhilarating than seeing my 10 favorite bands all in one day.
all while enduring weather extremes- not unlike today.....
back in those days i cut my hair short so i could head bang.
screamo was the hottest singing an artist could pull off.
crowd surfing was on my bucket list (until i saw my friend get dropped and then it was removed.)
i knew every word, inhaled breath, gasp, and time break of every song of some of the most obscure bands.
one time i pondered having my first kiss with a band member....
when it came to the music scene; i knew the hardcore stuff.
there was nothing like hearing the rhythm of my favorite band firsthand.
when i first saw taking back sunday i thought my life was complete. (the love band of  my youth- - still makes my insides spring up)
from first to last, the used, fall out boy, thursday, brand new, etc, etc..... there could be no finer combination of tunnage.

but boy have times change.
i always swore they never would.
i've softened in my music love.
no more screamo for me. (although i still bust out some brand new and tbs on occasion.)
this age thing shifts your tastes- but today i felt that crazy music kid fire in me again.
those butterflies when you're favorite song comes on.
that inability to contain yourself from singing along at the top of your lungs. (regardless of your pitch)
it took all of me not to do some hardcore head banging and attempt a crowd surf.
glad i still have a spark of my wild youth in me.
it made me feel alive if even for but a moment.

hope today you re-find some fire from past- you won't regret it.
happy weekend!!
