my career as a ticket scalper
here's the story_
my folks are coming into town.
my dad is a die hard yankee's fan so tickets to a game are a must.
i got a little over zealous and bought 6 tickets for the wrong night.....
tragedy.
depression.
fail.
dale and i really love the yankee's but 4 games in a row- i don't know if our love has reached that level.
so i took to the streets.
ticket scalper became my new hat.
at first i was a bit tentative.
that first approach was sketchy.
my fellow ticket scalper, "anyone selling tickets? anyone got some tickets? anyone?"
me, "i got some tickets- you want some tickets?"
"what you want for your tickets?"
"$30"
"where they at?"
"the bleachers"
"well shoot, good luck, no one's going to buy those tickets- people come mid 3rd inning and pay $5- you ain't gonna sell those."
second try-
"i've got some tickets"
"how much you want for em?"
"$30 for the pair- they are right by your seats."
"i'll give you $10" -he hands dale $10.....
"nooo we can't do that- we'd lose $25."
"no one's buying, i don't get it the yankees are winning. you won't sell them for that much- i have to sell them for that much."
3rd try
"anyone got tickets, tickets for sale?"
"i have some- a pair for $30, bleachers."
"ahh shout i'll give you $10- bleachers? come on."
4th try
"selling tickets."
"ya i got tickets. 2 of em."
"i'll give you $20."
- tempting...
but a night at the diamond is better than losing $15 on tickets.
after the 4th attempt i gave up my life as a scalper and we entered the yankee stadium gates.
i rather liked haggling with those scalpers- they came one after another after another- down playing our sporting event paraphernalia.
nice try scalper crowd- i wasn't desperate, so i win.
more to come on our yankee game experience later.
happy baseball season (or shall i say world cup season....) everyone.
