the beach

yesterday mary and i went to the beach with our friends jessica and olive.
it was really lovely.
heaven will be a beach-
i should probably go everyday but that over an hour train ride/toddler bout holds me back.
we went to coney island again.
i recently found out about other beaches accessible by subway- a new summer must.
here are a few pictures from our trip.
first we had to walk past the amusement parks/food stands.
that wonder wheel is really quite impressive.
the boardwalk is to die for.
huge, cute novelty food/beach shops, a crazy amusement park to look at.
it's like something from the movies....
then we found this golden walkway for strollers to the beach.
instead of dragging them for 2 blocks we only had to for a few feet.
thank you coney island.
mares was prepped for adventure.
we (by we i mean dale-he's more thoughtful) got her a wet suit after last time....
it may be the most ridiculously great idea we ever had.
she and i played in the beach for a long time.
no purple mary- just wetsuited bliss.
dabbled until she couldn't stand it any longer.
those waves knocked mares down on many an occasion.
i didn't know if she would come back from the sand/salt water face plant-
even though the ocean mistreated her she couldn't help herself.
 then she got serious
double fisting those sand toys.
she meant business.
check out all those lovely ocean hues.
nice snap jessica.
couldn't have asked for a finer day at the beach. (thanks to our comrades jessica and olive)
the subway ride down there were some kids sluffing school, playing some tunes, dropping it like it's hot- it was the best babysitter/subway ride distraction i could have asked for.
when we got there those school cutters were being stopped by police- wasn't expecting that.
they do things a little different around here.
we frolicked in the sand.
tried to eat some prepacked snacks- that didn't work.... a gust of sand coated my snack packing motherly efforts creating non-edible healthy treats.
after the sand coating we turned to candy....
we got whistled at for swimming in a no zone.
then i ate some extra unhealthy onion rings prior to our exit.
mary slept most of the subway ride home- so all in all my most worrisome part of our beach trip was neutralized.
it was just what the start of this weekend needed.
happy weekend everyone!
(we are looking extra forward to next week- - little sisters (maggie and hannah) are coming!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhh!!!)
