gratitude nyc version

to honor this lovely thanksgiving week i decided to write a few things i am grateful for but make it nyc specific

here's the list 

1. grateful for a small apt. 

the reasons:

helps me distinguish between the necessities and non-necessities of life

it's easier to decorate and furnish

makes for great bonding as a family

2. grateful for walking

the reasons:

i get to admire the simplest things that would be missed by other forms of transportation

i have learned about a city like i wouldn't have otherwise

3.grateful for public transit 

the reasons:

no car traffic

has helped me be grateful for a car when we need it

has shown me the humble circumstances of people around me; 

which has made me more grateful for my own 

3. grateful for a "city" stroller

the reasons:

it keeps my tiny perfect lady warm on brisk days

it acts as a portable napping shack

spares my arms from an all day workout

it doubles as a shopping cart

4. grateful for a laundromat in my building

the reasons:

spares me dragging all my laundry on the streets with a toddler

allows me to attend to other things while laundry is being done

5. grateful for an elevator for our fourth floor apartment

the reasons:

i don't have to haul a stroller up four flights of stairs

i don't have to haul groceries up four flights of stairs

etc. etc. etc. 

6. grateful for parks close by

the reasons:

gives me a wide open place

shows me you can find natural beauty anywhere 

reminds me a little of home (or the closest i can be reminded in this megalopolis) 

7. grateful for tall buildings

the reasons:

keeps me in wonder every day

has taught me you can find beauty in anything and everything 

8. grateful for the chance i have to live in nyc

the reasons:

i have learned a lot about a lot of things

i have had the chance to see things i would have never seen

i have learned how to be grateful for my situation

i have learned humility in very humbling ways

it's the greatest city in the world. 

most grateful to be a mother and wife

the reasons:

infinite 

my nyc gratitude list.
there is lots more i am grateful for but each of these have specifically been magnified while i have lived in nyc.
