thanksgiving in nyc
i saw a glimpse of this parade once before
year=2007
6 years later it had the same glory
my husbands the man
woke up at 6 to get the sweet seats.
made my dreams come true
here's the parade in all it's splendor
(in no particular order and not in it's entirety)
pro marching bands galore
buzz surprise/sneak photo surprise
world meets big apple
mares did a dough boy flop
then there was an intermission
big apple meets big apple
(wait)
cirque awesomeness
toothless mimic
my favorite
duck dynasty!!
hey there robertson family
the controversial sea world float
i cheered
no one else did
controversy can still be a cool float
grandpa golding double
dale's parents joined us for the festivities
this costume won grandest
largest cheer leading gathering
pom poms for blocks
best chant of the day
band number 7?
they were impressive
that elf is searching for his shelf
things started getting christmased
then santa came
no finer finale
caboose
things i learned about the macy's thanksgiving day parade
1. they try to get you to chant the name of every float
2. there is more room than you would think
3. instead of candy they throw biodegradable confetti (at least i hope)
4. they have a macy's day division dedicated to the parade
5. 87th year
6. during the war 1942-44 they donated the rubber to the war effort
7. felix the cat was the first balloon (1927)
8. they use to cut the balloons free and give prizes for people that returned them
9. 1924 initial parade with central park zoo animals
10. a turkey brings that baby in and santa ends it. (lovely and fitting)
