a children's novel exhibit
we recently visited the new york public library and they conveniently had a kids book exhibit.
originals of many of the loveliest of kids classics. (the hungry caterpillar, winnie the pooh, where the wild things are, etc...)
made my childhood heart burst.
to see my teeny lady exploring (or destroying) beloved child book displays was pretty tender too.
the highlight of the whole thing were the original winnie the pooh character stuffed animals on display.
i love, love, love winnie the pooh. a giant my-sized tigger was one of my best childhood pals.
i may have ostracized myself and selfishly stared at those 1920's stuffed animals for more than my share of time.
besides mary nearly destroying a floor to ceiling stack of books it was awesome.
here's a glimpse into what such an exhibit includes:

i am sure this was sturdy right??
stuffed treasures from 1921
makes me wonder if christopher got to play with them
mary kept coming back for quadruple views
teeny wild thing
it was nice the library provided a break exhibit for mary.
it was cool to see how children's novels have changed and influenced modern day literature.
i will look at mary's books differently now.
happy children story reading everyone.
