a brother's birthday and the president

today's that day that my one and only brother was born.
what do you say about your lone brother?
i  would say on more occasion than not i downplay the admiration i hold for him.
the respect.
the wonder.
the pride.
the honor.
i guess for me what he is is always what he has been.
other's see him for the first time-
i've seen him his whole life- so someone needs to be a little hard on him every now and then.
but truth be told there's no one i hold in higher regard.
respect more.
am in more wonder about.
burst with pride to know.
and feel honored to be his sister.
happy birthday brother.
partner in crime.
buddy.
pal.
comrade.
best friend.
you've been my idol since july 17th 1989.
to celebrate such a fine occasion we naturally took to the park.
mares mourned the absence of the birthday boy.
 things were momentarily dire.
she wasn't sure if partying was suitable when he's working thousands of miles away on his big day.
with a wardrobe change her focus on birthday loss sorrow subsided.
then all party hell broke loose.
happy birthday brother/uncle!!!
we love you lots, and lots, and lots porter man.
 mares got pumped up
because naturally on porter's birthday the president would be in town
he would also be only a few blocks from our house
and would be driving by one of our go to playgrounds
mares waited in anticipation.
 the entourage came by-
about 30 cops on bikes
5 more cop cars
then.....
i know suspense for nothing-
today we did see the president of the united states of america- president obama.
i didn't want to miss my perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity to see him so i didn't focus on taking pictures.
i did take a video though.... but i'm not techie enough to figure that out while a toddler is attacking me.
he drove by-
they blocked off blocks and blocks of streets for hours at a time.
we were sure the windows would be so tinted you couldn't see him or he would be hiding out.
nope- saw him in the flesh waving to we pedestrians.
it was epic.
so today on my brother's birthday i saw the president.
things like that happen on such a fine occasion.
thanks for having a birthday brother.

happy birthday five bazillion times!!

i love america.
