the crown of lady liberty

it's no secret i have an obsession with lady liberty.
so when i discovered that her crown was accessible- i booked tickets asap.
by asap i mean 4 months in advance.
they are hard to come by.
my birthday present this year was a trip to the crown.
today was the day i received my present.
it was well worth the wait.
my crazed love affair with a statue just reached a whole new level of lunacy.
the more i learn about her the more impressive she becomes.
enough gabber.
it's picture time
a teaser view from the pedestal
the museum was pretty awesome
it had life size replica of things
i didn't read much-- i've gotten to use to tending a tot and figure i can google stuff later
seeing the replicas was the highlight for me
394 total steps from the ground to the top.
from the pedestal to the crown the stairs are like this.
itty bitty winding stair case
someone 6 feet tall would have to mind their head
made me a bit woozy
(but more so on the way down)
 the crown is pretty tiny-
it looks big from down below but when you get inside it's really small.
we had to hunch over most of the time
there was only room for about 6 people comfortably-
naturally there was more than that there so it was a bit awkward trying to take pics and such
i had planned on it being 10-20 degrees warmer than outside but it wasn't that bad.
they put the scare on potential crown visitors by telling you all the hardship you will experience getting to it.
it wasn't bad.
then there were views like this
 this is miss liberty's hair
 these windows were lovely
 this view tho.
then i got crazy taking pictures of her from the crown
 this was unbelievable
her uplifted arm with crown photo bombing
the view from up top inside
 **i love you lady liberty**
i'm grateful i got to check this off my bucket list.
i've always dreamed about scaling those 354 steps up to the top.
any woman that draws 4 million visitors a year deserves respect.

thanks to our man michael stahl for taking such good care of mary so we could go to miss liberty.

happy tuesday to you all.
