edinburgh
the time we spent in edinburgh was not time enough.
i may have been the only one that felt so, alas 4 trumps 1, so we didn't spend much time here at all.
(i have really taken a liking to big cities).
the time we did spend was just enough to make me want more.
on the evening of friday june 27th we drove into the city just long enough to see all the shops close down and be forced to eat at mcdonalds.
we did drive right into the city center though; so we drove around those fabulous olden streets of perfection.
the next day before we headed to the battle reenactment we spent a few hours in the city.
my little sisters and i parted ways with our parents-
they spend money to tour castles and see things you see; we the cheap travelers refuse such luxuries.
so we took to the royal mile.
my main priority was harry potter..... (we all knew this was coming)
i'll be honest; and i'm ashamed of this you know, but prior to our little u.k. trip i had no idea that edinburgh was the place for harry potter.
cue poser music-
cue depression music-
butttt i have since repented of my lack of harry potter origin trivia.
i now know an annoying amount of information about edinburgh and harry potter.... thank you google/youtube.
even before i knew harry potter had such a strong hold in this city i felt harry potter here.
i mean every street is precisely what i imagined in the books.
the air of the place was the air i felt while indulging in harry potter.
that j.k. rowling is a magician/sorcerer with words.....
any harry potter lover should see this place.
if i had had more time i would have scoured every inch of that place for h.p. hot spots-
i will have to go back.
the one place i didn't want to miss was the elephant house-
the elephant house is one of the places j.k. rowling sat and wrote harry potter.
it was really quite something to see where the magic all began.
enough of me ranting here's some pics.
it was a little bit sketch that first night- - not too bad but i wouldn't want to be prancing around the streets after dark.
you know it could have just been that we had been in the country for so long beforehand too.
every time i go to the country and then come back to nyc i think..... oh man this is way sketchy.
then i'm here for a couple of days, readjust, and i feel extra safe (in our neighborhood- other one's, never).
it's always been strange to me how that happens.
every single street i walked down in this grand city was something magnificent.
the greatest of architecture
in building after building after building
all in rows and rows
with a castle overlooking
it was like something from every medieval movie/book i've ever seen/read.
it really is a magical capital for such a magical scotland.
oh edinburgh, i wouldn't mind visiting you again.
no. i. would. not.
we are leaving for california for a week so i will be finishing my u.k. posts while we are away.
hope you have a fabulous week.

these streets though..... i love them.
it was dumb luck that this bird flew into my picture but it makes it seem more old school right?
this is a picture of the arena that is by the castle.
see what i say about feeling like this was h.p. territory....
the witchery- yes please.
the holy grail of literature origin.
