a ferry ride and an isle introduction

on the second-third day of our grand adventure in scotland a little place called the isle of skye played part.
after our hogwarts express ride we pressed onward to this lovely isle.
first we did some site seeing in malaig.
our eyes were always keen to finding tourist shops and souvenir potentials.
malaig is supposed to be one of the finest spots for that much desired staple fish and chips.
so naturally we found a lovely joint and partook.
they must feed those fish sugar and possibly drugs because i've never tasted a finer deep fried swimmer.
after our wandering we boarded a ferry to our evenings destination.
i have never ridden a ferry to transport a car before.
quite the experience.
they let you drive your car on and off- which i thought was a brave move.
those ferry rides are really something.
especially when they are on the scottish coast.
shall we have a picture play-by-play?
i mean signs like this are priceless.
fouling is a very proper way of saying it.
i love it.
 yes.
fish and chips.
yes.
although your grease content only allows me to indulge once every few years.
you are fabulous in malaig.
 our ferry view
for as far as the eye can see.
magnificent.
because we americans don't speak like this.
i had to take pictures of every awesome sign.
then when we neared our evening pad we saw some of this action.
sheep hold a special place in this sheep herder daughters heart.
this one was camera ready.

after we arrived at our bed and breakfast we took a walk to a castle.
one we couldn't see....
the midges may have gotten us.
midges are like mosquitoes-
i kept warning hannah but she didn't believe me until she had a run in.
scotland impressed me with it's highlands then it had these coasts and a glimpse of this isle and wow.
if it stayed like this all year round i may vie for residency.
green like you've never seen.
steep mountains down to coast- ummm hmmm.
then they have these fluffy little sheep dotting the landscape.
it was everything that does my heart good combined- mountains, ocean, reminders of home. boom.
the bar was set extra high on this day.
my insecurities with driving were improved day 2.
when i pulled that mini van off that ferry i felt alive with foreign traveling ability.
we tried to eat in this town-
that didn't work out due to mistreatment at the restaurant. (good thing we had left over road trip snacks.)
a new yorker sass almost showed itself.
vacation me refrained from making foreign enemies.
besides the castle viewing fail and no meal that evening things went smoothly.
our bed and breakfast was the real deal- all the commodities a gal could ask for.
plus it had quite the view;
and free breakfast so.... that's a triple win right there.

more on the isle of skye next post.

todays my favorite day of the week.
hope today favors you like i favor it.
cheers to thursday.
