manhattan bridge

now, let's be honest, brooklyn bridge is king around these parts.
manhattan bridge is the step child.
forgotten.
downplayed.
hardly visited in comparison.
can we elevate this bridges status to grandchild please?
what is deserves is prince- or princess- or perhaps queen- or even second king.
here are a few facts about this lovely infrastructure:
- construction began in 1901
-opened in 1909
-but wasn't completely finished til 1912
- has 7 traffic lanes split on two levels, four subway tracks, a walkway, and a bike path.
-it's 6,855 feet in total length
-span is 1470 feet (aka it's water spread)
-the entrance is marked by a massive arch and colonade.
-this arch was marked a new york city landmark in 1975
we walked this baby- here's the results:
what we had to look forward to

a solo walkway- no sharing it with bikers= heaven
a wee bit neglected i would say
you don't see this kind of "art" on the brooklyn bridge
 and then this step child-
elevated to prince/princess (perhaps second ruler) goes and shows you something like this
 could  it be any lovelier
kind of lovely in a dingy-neglected-art kind of way

best part was we saw maybe 10 people the whole time
"king" you can have your hoards of people.
 megapolis beauty from afar
when a track kid/sports lover sees a square track that has a baseball field in the middle....
well pictures get taken like mad.
and then to finish it off
this kind of view of china town.
pros of manhattan bridge:
no people
walkway without bikers
views of the brooklyn bridge/city that are phenomenal
(what more could a person ask for)
i believe this lovely bridge has earned second king title.
do visit it if you are in town- it runs it's kingdom in fine fashion.
happy friday!
