the nyc high line
yesterday we went on a wee nyc walkabout.
there's this place called the high line
it's an old rail line turned park in the meat packing district/chelsea area.
over it's one mile length there is shrubbery, flowers, and trees of all types.
along with nature there is a very impressive array of art, benches, and carts/booths with goods of all types.
my favorites include
1. a new age rendition of the v-j day in times square photograph by alfred eisenstaedt.
2. masssive wooden benches/lounge chairs that have wheels and move along the train track.
3. a stained glass mural "the river that flows both ways". this particular line of windows changes as the sun does. it's beautiful.
4. for some reason i also really like a set of benches stacked like bleachers against an old brick wall. it has an old mural on it that's barely visible.
5. being able to see forever down rows of streets is incredible. buildings for as far as the eye can see. there's nothing like it.
it's quite a lovely way to take a stroll in the city. if you find yourself a spare minute in the city take a walk along this lovely ~1 mile path.
here's some pics from such a fine place:

customized high line elevator... it was yellow tinted too
flowers for days- - and lovely as can be
mares snoozed the whole time
my favorite
a teeny lone beauty
spring may be the finest of times to come here.
i came in the fall too- it was lovely but there's something about things coming to life instead of dying that really makes my heart patter.
hope spring is finding all of you in the loveliest of ways.
happy friday everyone.
